Jubilee year recital

Come, let us sing for joy to The Lord!

During this Year of Jubilee we have dined together, celebrated, worshipped, reached out to support others, spent time together building friendships, we have journeyed together on pilgrimage, worked together, listened and learned together.

On Friday Canon David led us as we joined together for Benediction, united with the hosts of heaven, to praise and worship in thanksgiving for all the blessing of this year.

As our sesquicentennial celebrations drew to a close, the statue of St John gazed down with Patronal care as we were again treated to a beautiful recital arranged by our director of music Rupert Bevan.

Our Jubilee finished as it began as united with the psalmist we prayed:

‘Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.’
Psalm 95

And now we move forward as one people, the past restored and celebrated, the future to be shaped together!

Our Jubilee Year - December 2012 - November 2013

Celebrations will take place throughout the year leading to a Mass said by the Bishop (to be confirmed) on the day of the anniversary 6th October 2013.

There are many arrangements that will need to be made to make this anniversary year a success. A number of groups have been established to cover the different areas – history, liturgy, events, cleaning and preparation for the church etc.

Fr David wishes to thank all who responded to his request to form a Jubilee Committee. The committee are now working on your ideas and are moving forward with various plans to celebrate the Jubilee.

8 October 2013

Mass of Dedication, to close the Jubilee Year.
