Bath Skyline Charity Walk – Saturday 5 July - in aid of RUH Cancer unit

Dear Parents/Friends of St John's: "I am writing to let you know about our BIG charity fund-raiser along Bath Skyline on Sat 5 July, to support the new cancer unit at the RUH. We have been working closely with the National Trust to organise a huge event for our community to take part in to support this.

We will be taking the 6 mile circular Bath Skyline walk through stunning countryside, with a lunch/picnic break and refreshment stops. This route will incorporate stiles, gates, and some muddy paths in places. There will also be some busy roads to cross where you will need to closely supervise your children. You are welcome to bring dogs but they will need to be kept on a lead for some of the time.

 

This is how it will work:

We will depart on Saturday 5th July @ 10am from Claverton Down (opposite the Sulis Sports ground) and will be following the suggested anticlockwise route as outlined in the National Trust map. We estimate that we will arrive at Bathwick Hill between 11.30 and 12 depending on the speed of the walker. It is here that you can stop for lunch or snacks. The spot has stunning views over the city and will enable people to refresh and socialise. Please bring a rug to sit on as the grass is quite long.

We will set off from this point around 12.30 onwards and make our way round to the Prior Park section of the walk. It is here that we will provide refreshments. This is almost the finish. You can complete your walk here, or continue the circuit through Rainbow Woods (which has a play area for children) back to the start of the walk. We estimate this will be around 2-2.30pm.

You are welcome to complete the walk at your own pace, join us at any point, leave at any point, or just join us for a picnic. We have been given permission by University of Bath to use the carpark at the Sulis Sports Ground (close to Ralph Allen school) for the duration of the walk.”
