Church spire inspection

Last month we had a minor fall of masonry from the west face of the church tower when a wing from a gargoyle above the louvres collapsed. A visual inspection of the tower did not indicate the likelihood of any further collapse but as a precaution we placed barriers in front of the west door and sought advice from the church's conservation architect.

Following his recommendation, an inspection of the tower masonry was made on 15th December 2014 by specialists who abseiled down the face.

While the final report has yet to be received, preliminary indications are that there is no immediate likelihood of any further fall in the immediate future.
