St John's Young Adult Group
After a summer vibrant with social activities aimed at getting to know each other, St Johns Young Adult Group is continuing to walk together - metaphorically and practically as the first ‘event’ of the Autumn and Winter series on the 2nd of November has in fact seen the group walking together to Perrymead cemetery to light some candles to commemorate the departed souls.
Now, in the Advent time of changes and challenges, the Group is ‘reaching out’ and getting more involved in the Parish spiritually and physically.
In fact, as well as joining Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (every other Friday from 8 to 9 pm) they welcomed the request of helping out in the sorting and cleaning of the new Adoration Chapel. This commitment had already started during the summer, when one of the group leaders had organized the cleaning and varnishing of two rectory tables. One of the said tables is now installed in the Holy Chapel being dignified by the Divine Presence of the Holy Sacrament.
The next gatherings will be an evening together for a ‘Movie with a Message’ (on the 11th of December) and the writing of Christmas Cards, messages of hope, for those guests and patients at the Bath Royal United Hospital.
In addition, Adoration and the evenings at the pub after the 6.30 Sunday Mass are a standing appointment and everyone (not just the young people of the Parish) is very welcome to join and to take up the (still relevant) encouragement St John Paul II to not be afraid and open wide the doors to Christ.
The Group is united in its hopes for the forthcoming Year of Mercy to keep growing in faith, friendship and to be able to help each other, testifying Jesus in their everyday lives and amongst their friends, families and people of the Parish.
