Celebrating Lent and Easter
The Diocesan Liturgy Office, working as part of the Department of Adult Education, is hosting a day for all those involved and engaged in the liturgical life of our parishes. Celebrating Lent and Easter is a day to help all those who exercise a liturgical ministry or hold a liturgical interest in their preparations for these two beautiful seasons.
Fr Martin Jakubas, priest of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton, will be our keynote speaker before we break out into workshops that will hopefully speak to people's particular interests or ministry.
Who is the day for? It is for everyone interested in the way we celebrate as a Catholic community. We're hoping that pastoral councils and liturgy groups will feel they can come along as well as others involved in any way in parish liturgy - parish readers, extraordinary ministers, deacons and religious, welcomers, CLOW coordinators, servers, parish musicians, and those who compose your intercessions.
Where is it being held? On 18 February 2017 and, once again, we will be at St Brendan's Sixth Form College in Brislington. As before, lunch will be provided for those who register to come along. We will begin the day at 10.00am (with refreshments from 9.30am) and plan to be finished at 3.30pm.
What will be explored? The season of Lent, leading into Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum, exploring our understanding of the seasons and the liturgies we celebrate.
Please invite those you think would gain something from this day. Be generous with the invitation you extend as it will be a reflective day, too, as well as a formative one. Of course, it would be great to see you, too, as part of the day.
We look forward to hearing from you if there is anything further you need to know.
